EDGAR TALADHAY WINS GAT APOLINARIO MABINI AWARD

More than an environmentalist, a shaper of the youth’s future and his influence is far beyond what he does today. This is how we describe the Braulio E. Dujali Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office-In-Charge, Mr. Edgar L. Taladhay. He was adjudged winner of 1st GAT Apolinario Mabini Award (GAMA) – Environmental Leadership. Taladhay received the award during the formal awarding ceremonies held on October 11, 2010 at Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel, Manila City.

The GAMA was launched by the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) to recognize individuals who have excelled and showed outstanding performance in their respective carrier that contributed to the growth and development of the country and, like GAT Apolinario Mabini, served as catalyst of social change and people empowerment.
Taladhay at his early age had been active in advocating for the protection, replenishment and sustainability of natural resources in particular and the preservation of the environment in general.
He was also a recipient of three other awards from each of the three former Presidents of the Philippines, namely; President Gloria Macpagal-Arroyo in 2003 for organizing the Green Brigade for the Ten Accomplished Youth Organization (TAYO), Presidential Youth Achiever’s Award in 2002 as Best Environmental Advocacy by President Joseph Estrada and Most Outstanding Youth Leader in Environment in 1996 by President Fedil Ramos.
The GAMA committee describes Taladhay a multi-awarded environmentalist, community organizer and youth leader who empowered the youth and students to protect and nurture the environment through his advocacy on environmental protection and management.
